Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: July 2026 · Part of the Terms of Service · Draft pending legal review.

1. Why this policy exists

Merchcraft turns your product photos into lifestyle images and marketing content. This policy defines what you may create with it. It protects you, your customers, the people who see your listings, and the service itself. It is part of our Terms of Service: by using Merchcraft you agree to follow it, in your uploads, in your product descriptions, and in the results you generate.

2. Your responsibilities

  • You own the rights, or hold a valid license, for every image you upload, including the product itself and any visible trademark, logo, design or artwork.
  • You only promote products you may legally sell, and you comply with the advertising rules of every market where you use the generated results.
  • You review every generated image and text before using it commercially. AI output can be inaccurate. What you publish is your responsibility.
  • If an identifiable person appears in an upload, you have their explicit consent.

3. Prohibited content and uses

The following are refused, removed and sanctioned, whether they appear in uploads, descriptions or generated results:

  • Illegal products and activities: drugs and drug paraphernalia, firearms, ammunition, explosives, stolen goods, products made from protected species, forged documents, or any product illegal to sell in your market.
  • Sexual content: nudity, sexually explicit or pornographic material of any kind.
  • Minors: any sexualization of minors. Zero tolerance, immediate termination and report to the competent authorities. Merchcraft also does not generate images depicting children, including for children’s products. Stage those products without people.
  • Real people: images of celebrities, public figures or private persons used without written consent, and any deepfake or impersonation.
  • Counterfeits and infringement: counterfeit or replica products, and any use of brands, logos or designs you have no right to use.
  • Misleading imagery: visuals that materially misrepresent the product being sold (its nature, size, contents or condition), or generated images presented as authentic photographs where regulation requires real photos.
  • Hateful, violent or harassing content: content that demeans people for who they are, glorifies violence, or targets an individual.
  • Regulated goods not accepted on Merchcraft: tobacco and vaping products, cannabis and CBD products, prescription medicines and prescription medical devices, adult products, gambling services, and realistic imitation weapons.
  • Abuse of the service: attempting to bypass or repeatedly probe our safety filters, automated scraping, automated access outside interfaces we officially provide, sharing or reselling account access, or using the service to build a competing product or dataset.

4. Restricted content (allowed with conditions)

  • Underwear, lingerie and swimwear: legitimate e-commerce categories. Allowed with adult models only, product-focused staging, and no sexualized poses or framing.
  • Alcohol: allowed. Scenes must show adults only and responsible contexts, and you must comply with the advertising law of your market.
  • Knives and tools: allowed as household or professional products, never in a threatening or violent staging.
  • Cosmetics and food supplements: allowed. Generated descriptions must not contain medical or therapeutic claims.

If a legitimate product keeps getting refused, contact us. We would rather fix a false positive than lose an honest merchant.

5. How we enforce this

  • Automated checks run on uploads and generations. A generation blocked for safety reasons is clearly flagged in the app.
  • Credits: a first safety refusal is refunded automatically. Repeated attempts to generate refused content consume the credit.
  • Strikes: confirmed violations add a strike to your account. Three strikes suspend the account pending human review. Severe violations (minors, counterfeiting, fraud) lead to immediate termination.
  • Termination for violation of this policy is without refund of remaining credits or subscription time.
  • We keep moderation logs (refused uploads and generations, strikes) for abuse prevention, and we report content to the authorities when the law requires it.

6. Reporting abuse

If you believe content created with Merchcraft infringes your rights or violates this policy, email support@getmerchcraft.com with the subject “Abuse report”. Include the content concerned, where you saw it, and, for intellectual property claims, evidence that you hold the rights. We review every report and remove confirmed violations promptly.

7. Changes

We may update this policy as the service and the law evolve. Material changes are announced in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
